Bush Impeachment Update

House votes to move Kucinich articles to judiciary committee.

CNN reports this as a move that is designed to kill impeachment-- certainly Dem leadership (Pelosi et al) do not want impeachment. Words fail me in describing how fucked up Pelosi is in this regard. Talk about a fake opposition Democrat!

Optimistically, this could be a good move, as it will allow the judiciary committee to collect evidence, and the threat of bringing impeachment to the floor can be used for some leverage against Bush. Certainly, impeachment probably would have died if sent to the floor for a straight up vote, so this isn't so bad-- in a relative sense.

Meanwhile, 89% of people in this MSNBC poll think Bush should be impeached (almost 700,000 responses).

Kucinich Enters Articles of Impeachment Against Bush!!!

Mainstream media and most blogs ignore.

Here is an almost complete list of the articles-- even some stuff on 9/11:

(more complete list here)
#33: Repeatedly ignored and failed to respond to high level intelligence warnings of planned terrorist attacks in U.S. prior to 9/11.
Clark warned the president in daily briefings of the threat. Clark was unable to convene a cabinet level position. Tenet met with the president 40 times to warn of threat. Still no meetings of top officials.

#34: Obstruction into the investigation of 9/11

#35: endangering the health of 9/11 first responders

Press Refuse to Admit Bush Lied About War

Why is the press still reluctant to tell the truth about George W. Bush's run up to war -- that is a bald-faced liar who deliberately lied to the very Americans he's supposed to serve because he wanted to get into a war that he thought would give him a Great Legacy™ and fatten the pockets of himself and his cronies in the bargain?

Now that the report of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence has come out, this is no longer the exclusive province of bloggers and "kooks." It is absolute truth, that this president betrayed the trust of the American people in a way no other president has done in my lifetime -- not even Nixon. And yet, as he plays out the string of his ghastly, destructive, miserable presidency, the press still won't call him a liar.

I Weep for Bush's Idiocy

Among the excerpts of the interview captured in Engel’s new book, “War Journal: My Five Years in Iraq”:
- “‘This is the great war of our times. It is going to take forty years,’” [Bush told Engel]. “Bush said in forty years the world would know if the war on terrorism, and conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, had reduced extremism, helped moderates, and promoted democracy.”
- Bush admits to Engel that going to war was a decision based on his personal instinct and not on any long-range strategy for the Mideast:
“I know people are saying we should have left things the way they were, but I changed after 9/11. I had to act. I don’t care if it created more enemies. I had to act.”

The 13-Year-Old-in-Chief

Among the anecdotes in "Wiser in Battle: A Soldier's Story" is an arresting portrait of Bush after four contractors were killed in Fallujah in 2004, triggering a fierce U.S. response that was reportedly egged on by the president.

During a videoconference with his national security team and generals, Sanchez writes, Bush launched into what he described as a "confused" pep talk:

"Kick ass!" he quotes the president as saying. "If somebody tries to stop the march to democracy, we will seek them out and kill them! We must be tougher than hell! This Vietnam stuff, this is not even close. It is a mind-set. We can't send that message. It's an excuse to prepare us for withdrawal."

"There is a series of moments and this is one of them. Our will is being tested, but we are resolute. We have a better way. Stay strong! Stay the course! Kill them! Be confident! Prevail! We are going to wipe them out! We are not blinking!"
